Job summary

Geisinger is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to assist with daily supervision and management within the department. You will help ensure compliance with regulatory agencies, perform decontamination, cleaning, processing and sterilization of supplies, and direct work in the absence of management.

You will contribute to staffing, adjust routines for emergent situations, supervise technical skills, and support quality and orientation programs while handling instrument sets and medication

Qualifications

• Experience with decontamination, cleaning, processing and sterilization in a clinical setting.
• Knowledge of infection control practices and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

• Assist in staffing, planning and management of operational functions.
• Assume department responsibility in the absence of management.
• Alter routines to adapt to irregular or emergent situations.
• Assist and instruct supervision of specialized technical skills.
• Support quality monitors, in-service programs and orientation.
• Maintain instrument set listings and diagrams.
• Participate in interviewing and replacement of staff.
• Investigate problems or complaints related to operations.
• Perform sterilization and decontamination of equipment.
• Disassemble, clean, inspect and reassemble instrument sets.
• Dispense products per requisitions.
• Access and transport non-controlled medications as needed.
