Qualifications

• Two years CSD or Operating Room sterilization experience.
• Post high school coursework in microbiology or related field; equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
• Registered Central Service Technician Certificate or Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution - Technician Certification.
• Demonstrated understanding of sterile processing, infection control, and instrument reprocessing.

Responsibilities

• Segregates used instruments and returns to CSD; loads washer or sonic cleaner; prepares items for sterilization.
• Assembles instrument trays, wraps items, and inspects instruments for proper function.
• Performs sterilization procedures and monitors biological indicators; reports abnormal results.
• Maintains sterility control and adheres to universal precautions and infection control practices.
• Assists in room turnover and supports O.R. staff with sterilization and inventory management.
