Job summary

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking an Assistant Chief - Sterile Processing to oversee the Sterile Processing Service, including decontamination, sterilization, and distribution of reusable medical equipment, and ensure regulatory compliance.

The role provides supervisory leadership to SPS staff, participates in quality control, inventory management, and policy development, and may act as Chief in their absence; telework is not available, standard schedule Monday–Friday.

Qualifications

• 5 years of professional experience in Sterile Processing or related field.
• Prior leadership or supervisory expertise.
• Relevant professional certification preferred.
• Knowledge of regulatory and accrediting organizations.
• Ability to manage equipment inventory and QA programs.

Responsibilities

• Oversee decontamination, sterilization, and distribution of reusable medical equipment.
• Provide supervision of SPS staff and act as Chief when needed.
• Develop and maintain internal review system for regulatory compliance.
• Manage SPS Equipment Inventory Listing and equipment replacement requests.
• Represent SPS on committees and attend meetings; provide reports.
