Job summary

Mercy Jefferson is seeking a Sterile Processing Instrument Technician to join our surgical services team. Under supervision, you will clean, inspect, assemble, and sterilize instruments for high-level disinfection, following instrument manufacturer instructions and hospital policies.

Location is Festus, MO; full-time evenings. Must have basic healthcare exposure, a high school diploma, and basic computer skills to maintain logs and comply with documentation requirements.

Qualifications

• Experience: Prior healthcare related experience, basic knowledge of sterilization processes in a clinical setting preferred.
• Required Education: High School degree or GED equivalent
• Other: Basic computer skills

Responsibilities

• Process decontamination, processing and sterilization of instruments.
• Maintain documentation on logs or computer systems.
• Prioritize instrumentation for processing and dispatch supplies.
• Operate equipment and wear PPE.

The Sterile Processing Technician always follows the Manufacturer's Instructions for Use in Decontamination, Processing, High Level Disinfection & Sterilization as well as Department and Hospital Processes and Policies. The Sterile Processing Instrument Technician must be able accurately maintain the required documentation on written logs and/or computer systems. Documentation includes processes in Decontamination, Processing, High Level Disinfection or Sterilization as well as Sterile Processing Department Equipment. The Sterile Processing Instrument Technician must be able to prioritize instrumentation for processing, answer telephones and dispatch instrumentation, equipment and supplies. The Sterile Processing Instrument Technician performs their duties in a manner consistent with our Mission, Values, and Mercy Service Standards. Performs other duties as assigned.
