Job summary

Akron Children's Hospital seeks an experienced sterile processing professional to support daily unit operations and collaborate across interdisciplinary teams. The role focuses on planning, implementing, and evaluating the delivery of clean and sterile instrumentation, equipment, and supplies for operating rooms and patient care areas.

The candidate will assist in staff development, supervision, and performance improvement while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in a related field required; must obtain higher within two years.
• Minimum four years direct sterile processing experience; five years if external hire.
• CRCST certification required; must obtain CES, CSPM, CSIS, CST, CFER, CIS or CHL within one year of promotion.
• Subject matter expert in at least three specialty areas.
• Must participate in performance improvement and assist with HR management tasks.

Responsibilities

• Assists manager in daily unit operations and collaborates with interdisciplinary teams.
• Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates sterile instrument, equipment, and supply delivery.
• Contributes to development and evaluation of assigned personnel.
• Provides staff support using specialized knowledge, judgment and skill.
• Demonstrates accountability for self and staff; supports performance improvement initiatives.
• Monitors compliance with decontamination, inspection, assembly, packaging, wrapping, and sterilization standards.
• Participates in hospital activities as directed by the Manager.
