Job summary

Shriners Children’s Hospital is seeking a Sterile Process Technician I in the Boston area to join our sterile processing team. The role supports decontamination, cleaning, processing, sterilization, and distribution of instruments used in patient care.

Your work ensures infection prevention and patient safety, with opportunities to grow in a renowned pediatric system. The position requires a high school diploma or GED, CSPDT certification, and about one year of sterile processing experience.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required; CSPDT preferred.
  • Minimum 1 year of sterile processing experience.
  • Ability to maintain instrument counts and prepare trays.

Responsibilities

  • Selects, utilizes and maintains count sheets for instrumentation.
  • Ensures functionality, cleanliness and completeness of instrument trays.
  • Operates packaging for sterilization and maintains surgeon's preference sheets.
  • Notifies Sterile Processing for schedule changes.
  • Monitors and documents sterilization and maintains Sterile Core and OR supplies.
  • Demonstrates competency in operation of all related equipment.
  • Retrieves floor instruments in a timely manner.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Summary

The Sterile Process Technician I is responsible for decontaminating, cleaning, processing, assembling, sterilizing, storing, and distributing sterile medical devices and equipment used in patient care at The Shriners Hospital for Children. This role is crucial in preventing infection and ensuring patient safety.

Key Responsibilities
  • Selects, utilizes and maintains count sheets for instrumentation.
  • Ensures functionality, cleanliness and completeness of instrument trays.
  • Utilizes appropriate packaging for sterilization Selects and maintains surgeon's preference sheets through the computer.
  • Notifies Sterile Processing for schedule changes.
  • Monitors and documents sterilization Maintains the Sterile Core and O.R. suites with correct and adequate supplies.
  • Demonstrates competency in the operation of all equipment in this area.
  • Retrieves floor instruments in a timely manner.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
  • High School Diploma/GED Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) 1 year sterile processing experience
Compensation

Compensation is determined based on years of relevant experience and departmental equity.
