Job summary

Shriners Children’s Portland is seeking a Per Diem Sterile Processing Tech to join our Surgical Services team. You will perform sterile processing of instruments, maintain supplies, and support the department in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Required: High School Diploma or GED and 2 years of sterile processing experience; CSPDT preferred. This per diem role offers competitive compensation and benefits as part of a nationwide pediatric specialty system.

Responsibilities

• Maintains clean environment in sterile processing by wearing appropriate PPE and following facility protocols.
• Safely cleans, packages, and sterilizes instruments using aseptic technique.
• Operates, monitors, and documents cleaning/sterilizing equipment per manufacturer instructions.
• Maintains CS and Surgery inventory by counting, ordering, and restocking par level supplies.
• Responds promptly to Surgery requests for additional items.

Job Description

The Sterile Processing Tech performs sterile processing of surgical instruments and equipment and maintains supplies for the Surgical Services Department. We have an opportunity for a Per Diem Sterile Processing Tech to join our Shriners Portland team.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintains clean environment in sterile processing department by wearing appropriate clothing, hair and face covering, and cover coats, and removing/changing aprons, masks, etc., as necessary.
• Safely cleans, packages, assembles, sterilizes instruments and trays using aseptic technique.
• Correctly operates, monitors, and documents all cleaning and sterilizing equipment in CS and OR area according to equipment manufacturer's instructions.
• Maintains appropriate CS and Surgery inventory by routinely counting, ordering, and restocking par level supplies.
• Responds immediately to all requests from Surgery for different or additional items.

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED
• 2 years experience in sterile processing

Preferred Qualifications

• Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT)

Compensation

• Compensation is determined based on years of relevant experience and departmental equity.
