Job summary

The Department of Neurosurgery at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill invites applications for a fellowship-trained Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgeon to join our growing academic program. The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary team of 12 neurosurgeons with strong clinical, research, and teaching infrastructure.

Qualifications

• MD or MD/PhD from an accredited institution.
• Board-certified or board-eligible by the American Board of Neurological Surgery.
• Fellowship training in stereotactic and functional neurosurgery.
• Ability to work effectively with neurosurgical, critical care, and other clinician partners.
• The position requires that the candidate have, or be able to obtain, a medical license in the state of North Carolina and be credentialed to practice medicine at UNC Health Care System.

Responsibilities

• Provide surgical care for patients with epilepsy and movement disorders, in close collaboration with neurologists specializing in these areas.
• Participate actively in the education and mentorship of residents, fellows, and medical students.
• Contribute to the department's research mission, focusing on understanding the mechanisms of neurological disorders, the biologic and physiologic basis of neurosurgical interventions, and advancing surgical techniques for epilepsy and functional disorders.
• Engage in interdisciplinary collaborations across UNC's neuroscience, imaging, and engineering communities.
