Baylor Scott & White Medical Center - Sunnyvale in Sunnyvale, TX is seeking a Step Down Registered Nurse to provide direct patient care in the Cardiac Specialty Unit. Requirements include TX RN license, 2+ years in critical care, and BLS/ACLS. CCRN preferred; strong communication in English and basic computer skills are expected.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
• Current State of Texas RN license.
• Two or more years of recent critical care experience.
• Current AHA BLS Certification.
• Current AHA ACLS Certification.
• CCRN preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in the Cardiac Specialty Unit.
• Coordinate care plans with the patient, family, and health-care team.
• Document patient encounters accurately and protect patient health information.
• Oversee patient care team and ensure safety, quality, and infection control.
• Educate patients, families, and team members on care plans and treatments.
• Collaborate with clinicians to develop and implement care plans.

Job Summary

Baylor Scott & White Medical Center - Sunnyvale is seeking a Step Down Registered Nurse to who will independently in our Cardiac Specialty Unit performing the functions of direct patient care. You will utilize the nursing process in the delivery of developmentally appropriate care. You will also work in collaboration with other health care professionals to provide a comprehensive plan of care to meet the patient/family needs.

Qualifications:

• Step Down Registered Nurse requires advanced professional knowledge in own field and basic knowledge of related fields - Knowledgeable of industry best practices and regulations
• Acts as a resource for less experienced colleagues and may lead projects - Solves complex problems and takes a new perspective on existing solutions
• Impacts customer, operational, project, or service activities within own and related teams - Works independently with minimal guidance
• Explains difficult information and works to build consensus
• Step Down Registered Nurse oversees patient care team and coordinates care plan
• Accountable for patient care meeting safety, effectiveness, and patient rights standards
• Prescribes, delegates, and coordinates patient care using nursing skills and evidence-based guidelines
• Step Down Registered Nurse provides education and facilitates learning for patients, families, and team members
• Collaborates with healthcare professionals to develop and implement care plan
• Advocates for patient and resolves ethical and clinical concerns
• Accurately documents patient encounters and protects patient health information
• Adheres to infection prevention initiatives
• Delivers competent care with emphasis on good customer relations and evidence-based practice
• Step Down Registered Nurse continuously evaluates patient condition and collaborates with healthcare team - Manages environmental and system resources for patients and families.
• Required: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
• Preferred: Academic degree in nursing (Bachelors or Master’s degree)
• Current State of Texas Registered Nurse license.
• Two or more years of recent critical care experience.
• Current AHA BLS Certification.
• Current AHA ACLS Certification.
• CCRN preferred
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
• Additional languages preferred.
• Basic computer knowledge.
