Job summary

School City of Hammond is seeking a qualified special education teacher to plan and implement education for students with mild disabilities and/or autism in a self-contained setting. The role emphasizes IEP development, service delivery, progress monitoring, and collaboration with general education teachers and other providers to ensure accommodations on state assessments and accurate records management.

Applicants must hold Indiana licensure in Exceptional Needs Mild Interventions or Intense

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required with Indiana teaching license for Exceptional Needs (Mild or Intense Interventions).
• Experience working with students with mild/moderate disabilities is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement the education of students with mild disabilities and/or autism
• IEP development and implementation of services to students
• Participate in case conferences to develop measurable IEP goals, benchmarks and objectives
• Regularly monitor the implementation of planned IEP services
• Inform teachers and other providers of their responsibilities related to the implementation of each student’s IEP
• Assurance of accommodations on state/district assessments
• Records management and maintenance

Specific Responsibilities In This Position
