Fluxspace is seeking a part‑time, in‑person STEM Technology Specialist/Facilitator to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and operate educational technology across the Pittsburgh region. You will train educators and staff to use this gear confidently and effectively.

Work may include facilitating STEM workshops and hands‑on learning experiences for students, depending on programming needs. A passion for problem solving and engaging STEM learning is essential.

Qualifications

  • Experience installing, maintaining, operating, or troubleshooting technology.
  • Familiarity with makerspaces and STEM equipment such as 3D printers, robotics, VR/AR, laser cutters is preferred.
  • Able to explain technical concepts to diverse ages and experience levels.
  • Teaching or facilitation experience is a plus but not required.

Job description

Fluxspace (www.fluxspace.io) is seeking a dedicated and technically skilled STEM Technology Specialist/Facilitator to support our work throughout the Pittsburgh region.

This part-time, in-person contract role will focus primarily on the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and operation of STEM and educational technology equipment at schools and other partner locations. You will also train educators and staff to use this technology confidently and effectively.

Depending on programming needs, the role may include facilitating STEM workshops, lessons, and hands-on learning experiences for students. The ideal candidate enjoys working with technology, solving practical problems, helping others learn, and creating engaging STEM experiences.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, configure, test, and maintain STEM and educational technology equipment at locations throughout the Pittsburgh region.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment, software, connectivity, and other technical issues.
  • Provide hands‑on training and ongoing support for educators, staff, and program partners.
  • Set up and operate technologies such as 3D printers, robotics equipment, VR/AR systems, laser cutters, agricultural technology, coding kits, and related tools.
  • Maintain safe, organized, and fully functional makerspaces and STEM learning environments.
  • Track equipment condition, maintenance needs, repairs, supplies, and replacement parts.
  • Prepare equipment and learning spaces for workshops, demonstrations, events, and student programs.
  • When needed, facilitate engaging STEM lessons, design challenges, and hands‑on workshops for learners of varying ages and abilities.
  • Support students and educators as they use STEM tools and technologies.
  • Collaborate with the Fluxspace team to improve training materials, technical processes, and STEM learning experiences.
  • Assist with special events, tours, demonstrations, and regional programming as needed.
Qualifications
  • Experience installing, maintaining, operating, or troubleshooting technology or technical equipment.
  • Familiarity with makerspaces and STEM equipment—such as 3D printers, robotics, VR/AR, laser cutters, agriculture technology, and coding kits is strongly preferred.
  • Comfortable learning new technologies and explaining technical concepts to people with varying levels of experience.
  • Teaching, training, or facilitation experience is preferred but not required.
  • Experience working with educators, students, schools, or community organizations is a plus.
  • Strong troubleshooting, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Reliable, adaptable, self‑directed, and comfortable working at different locations throughout the Pittsburgh region.
  • Able to create a welcoming, engaging, and educational environment for learners of all ages.

Location: Pittsburgh region; in‑person work at schools and partner locations

Schedule: Flexible Hours may vary based on installation, training, and programming needs.

Position Type: Part‑time, ongoing contract role

Start Date: Immediate & on an as‑needed basis

Compensation: Competitive hourly rate
