Job summary

Science Club for Girls (SCFG) in Cambridge seeks a Program Assistant to support volunteer recruitment, onboarding, and retention for after‑school and weekend STEM clubs. The role blends on-site office work, community presence, and remote tasks, reporting to the Senior Volunteer Manager.

The position is full-time (40 hours) in a hybrid setting, with travel to club sites across Cambridge, Boston, Somerville, and Malden, including some evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
• 1-2 years in HR coordination, communications, event planning, youth development, STEM and/or K-12 education.

Responsibilities

• Assist recruitment, onboarding, and retention of volunteer mentors.
• Support mentor communications, social posts, and newsletters.
• Help plan and execute mentor appreciation events.
• Assist in weekly virtual clubs and attend in-person clubs to set up classrooms and materials.
• Prepare for in-person clubs, pack wagons/cars, and clean up after clubs.
• Participate in staff, team, and partner meetings.
• Promote a diverse volunteer base reflecting underrepresented communities in STEM.
