Job summary

Ibility in Gaithersburg, MD is seeking a STEM Program Coordinator to support a federal education initiative focused on K-12 STEM engagement. The role combines education delivery, maker-space leadership, and program administration to help build the next generation of STEM professionals.

This on-site, full-time position requires U.S. citizenship, ability to obtain a secret clearance, and strong collaboration with researchers, educators, and community partners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 2 years of specialized experience in program coordination, OR 4 years of specialized experience demonstrating the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully in this role.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
• Ability to pass a background check for contact with minors (students under 18).
• Ability to work full-time on-site at a government facility in Maryland.

Responsibilities

• Support the planning, coordination, and execution of outreach programs and events; maintain familiarity with the client's research and technology areas to engage researchers and engineers in outreach initiatives.
• Review existing educational curriculum and assist in developing new curriculum; deliver student presentations and provide basic STEM instruction.
• Provide administrative support including student/parent correspondence, database management and tracking, metrics reporting, and responding to data calls.
• Coordinate community outreach events, secure personnel for talks, lab demos, and events; manage logistics and track engagement.
• Manage on-site education outreach office space, safety and facility operations, and inventory control.
• Serve as technical lead for the on-site STEM maker space; maintain equipment and provide safety training.

Position Overview

Ibility is supporting a federal research and technology organization on an education and outreach initiative focused on K-12 STEM engagement. The STEM Program Coordinator will combine education and outreach delivery, technical maker-space leadership, and program administration in direct support of building the next generation of the STEM workforce.

Note: This position is contingent upon Government contract award.

Key Responsibilities

• Program Support & Outreach: Support the planning, coordination, and execution of outreach programs and events; maintain familiarity with the client's research and technology areas to engage researchers and engineers in outreach initiatives; assist internal and external customers professionally and promptly.
• Instruction & Curriculum: Review existing educational curriculum and assist in developing new curriculum; deliver student presentations and provide basic STEM instruction.
• Program Administration: Provide administrative support including student/parent correspondence, database management and tracking, metrics reporting, and responding to data calls.
• Community Outreach & Events: Leverage relationships with subject-matter experts to secure personnel for career talks, tabling events, and lab demos; provide full event logistics support; attend events and run community lab demos when subject-matter experts are unavailable; track community engagement in an internal outreach tracking system.
• Facility & Operations Management: Manage an on-site educational outreach office space and daily operations, including safety/emergency management, key control, visitor control, IT liaison duties, facility maintenance tracking, and inventory control.
• Maker Space Technical Leadership: Serve as technical lead for an on-site STEM maker space; maintain equipment and alert program leadership of maintenance/supply/upgrade needs; provide safety briefings and SOP training and oversight to users.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 2 years of specialized experience in program coordination, OR 4 years of specialized experience demonstrating the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully in this role
• U.S. citizenship required
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance
• Ability to pass a favorably adjudicated background check for regular contact with minors (students under 18), as required for this role
• Willingness to complete client-provided training and certification in Hazardous Waste Management and Laser Safety
• Ability to achieve 3D-printing proficiency within 3 months of start
• Ability to work full-time on-site at a government facility in Maryland (80 hours biweekly, standard business hours)
• Experience with program administrative support, database management/tracking, and metrics reporting

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in a STEM technical field or as a STEM educator
• Direct experience with K-12 or youth STEM instruction, curriculum development, or informal science education
• Hands-on maker space, fabrication lab, or 3D-printing experience
• Experience with facility operations, equipment safety, or hazardous materials compliance
• Experience coordinating community outreach events, career fairs, or volunteer/partner engagement
• Prior experience supporting federal or public-sector program requirements
