Job summary

Rochester YMCA is seeking a Makerspace Assistant to support age-appropriate STEM/STEAM activities and special programming in the makerspace. The role involves delivering safe, engaging programs and demonstrating YMCA leadership values, with a focus on youth development and community involvement.

Position offers $16.50/hr + a Free YMCA Membership. Work schedule includes Tuesdays and Thursdays with specific time blocks, and requires CPR/AED and First Aid certifications within 60 days of employment.

Qualifications

Experience in STEM/STEAM, engineering or robotics is required.
Must be 18 years of age or older.
Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

Help implement programs and activities in the makerspace.
Prepare a list of supplies and materials for the studio and programs.
Maintain and organize the program area and materials.
Observe and promote safety procedures.
Communicate with the lead coordinator in all programming.
Develop and maintain positive relationships with participants, staff and volunteers.
Respond to emergencies appropriately per training.
Maintain required certifications (CPR/AED, First Aid).
Attend trainings, meetings, and YMCA events.
All other duties as assigned.
