Job summary

The Ohio State University is seeking an Instructional Design Specialist for the STEM Gateway Learning Center. The role focuses on developing tutoring programs and discipline-based materials to support students in general chemistry, biology, mathematics and physics.

You will hire and supervise peer tutors, design tutor training, and collaborate with faculty to ensure alignment with program goals. The position is in-person, 5 days a week, with strong emphasis on assessment and impact reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, or Physics or equivalent education and experience.
• Two years of relevant experience.
• Strong communication and organization skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and excellent writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and plan tutoring and other academic support activities for STEM students.
• Hire and supervise peer tutors, plan weekly tutor meetings, and develop training materials.
• Collaborate with science and mathematics faculty to align tutoring with coursework and goals.
• Maintain records on tutoring activities and assess impact of tutoring programs.
• Assist the Associate Director in reporting outcomes to ASLC staff and stakeholders.
