Job summary

The YMCA of Snohomish County is seeking a STEM program facilitator to implement curriculum at multiple Everett-area locations. The role requires traveling to sites, promoting inclusive practices, and ensuring safety standards are met while delivering engaging STEM activities to youth.

A high school diploma is required, with 1+ years' related experience. Ability to travel and basic computer skills are essential; bilingual candidates are preferred.

Qualifications

• One or more years' related experience planning and facilitating STEM activities with youth in a developmentally appropriate group setting.
• Have a high school diploma or equivalent
• Provide documentation of all certification and training requirements established by DCYF, including TB test and vaccinations, and background check
• Ability to travel to YMCA site locations
• Organize and implement high quality developmentally appropriate programming
• Basic computer/typing skills and ability to use standard office software
• Fluency in a second language desired
• Vaccinations may be required

Responsibilities

Position Summary

Implement STEM curriculum at assigned locations as directed introducing youth from all backgrounds to science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) experiences; meeting the needs of our diverse community.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

• Travels to assigned locations to implement STEM curriculum on-site at designated YMCA of Snohomish County locations.
• Focus on facilitation practices that encourage gender equitable practices and promote inclusivity in STEM
• Ensure and provide upkeep of assigned program facilities and equipment and ensure all safety standards are met
• Maintain compliance with proper DCYF and YMCA trainings
• Ensure clear and effective communication between site staff and the STEM Director
• Periodically meet with STEM Team to ensure STEM continuum and sustainability
• Periodically complete quality assessments for STEM facilitation, programs, and activities.
• Ensure compliance with state and local regulations in addition to YMCA program standards and procedures
• Provide for upkeep of assigned program facilities, equipment and ensure all safety standards are met
• Maintain proper records, statistics and department files
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• One or more years' related experience planning and facilitating STEM activities with youth in a developmentally appropriate group setting.
• Have a high school diploma or equivalent
• Provide document of all certification and training requirements established by DCYF, including position prerequisites, current negative TB test, fully vaccinated for COVID-19/MMR/other required vaccinations*, and portable background check
• Ability to travel to YMCA site locations and community organizations.
• Organize and implement high quality developmentally appropriate programming.
• Basic computer/typing skills and demonstrated ability to utilize standard office software
• Fluency in second language desired

Physical Demands

As directed, lead and participate in a range of activities in indoor/outdoor settings. Sufficient strength, agility and mobility to perform essential functions of position and to safely supervise program activities. Staff may be required to move weights of approximately 50 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, employees are regularly required to sit, walk and stand; talk or hear, both in person and by telephone; use hands repetitively to finger, handle, feel or operate standard office equipment; reach with hands and arms; and lift up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus.

The full range of the pay grade for this position is $24.24-$34.32.
