Job summary

Occasional evenings and weekends are required. The ideal candidate will assist teaching faculty and students, manage lab inventories, and maintain safety records in accordance with college policies.

Qualifications

• Two years of full-time or equivalent lab experience in a relevant field.
• Associate degree in a medical/science field may substitute for up to one year of required experience.
• One year of education toward a degree may substitute for up to one year of required experience.
• Training in a recognized school or hospital program for laboratory technicians may substitute for up to one year of experience.
• Certification as a medical technologist or bacteriologist may substitute for required experience.

Responsibilities

• Set up STEM laboratory experiments and prepare chemical solutions and cultures following safety protocols.
• Support teaching faculty and students as needed.
• Maintain cleanliness and safety of lab spaces; perform related duties including custodial tasks and waste disposal.
• Monitor equipment temperatures and pressures and report problems to staff.
• Prepare and file safety incident reports and update lab inventory databases.
• Carry out weekend and evening duties as assigned.
