Job summary

Georgia Highlands College is seeking a Laboratory Supervisor for the STEM instructional laboratory. The role involves managing daily lab operations, ensuring safety, and assisting with courses and labs where credentials allow.

You will oversee budgeting, equipment calibration, and policy implementation while guiding staff and maintaining records. The position may include directing courses and supporting instructional activities as needed.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of instructional or research laboratory operation
• Knowledge of specific course content for assigned teaching duties
• Knowledge of project management approaches and tools, project planning, timeline, and budget management
• Skills in communication, customer service, supervision and instruction
• Ability to work with complex laboratory equipment and computer programs used to perform experiments
• Ability to provide effective leadership in the laboratory

Responsibilities

• Understand, support, and carry out the college's mission, vision, and values and comply with mandates and regulations
• Oversee and manage daily operation of laboratory facility in safe, clean and organized manner
• Instructs lab users on proper use of lab equipment, lab safety, protocols and procedures
• Instructs Science laboratories and/or Courses as credentials allow
• Oversees scheduling of lab usage
• Develops and administers laboratory budget, oversee purchase of supplies and equipment, maintains related records
• Develops and implements laboratory policies and procedures; incorporates best practices as appropriate
• Oversees calibration and maintenance of lab equipment
• Oversees use and storage of chemicals
• Plans and directs work of staff and assess performance
• Perform other duties as assigned
