Job summary

Woodcraft Rangers seeks a STEM Specialist to design and deliver engaging, hands-on STEM experiences for TK-12 and to support curriculum development across science, engineering, math, gardening, robotics, 3D printing, coding and e-sports.

The role collaborates with STEM leadership and curriculum writers to create lesson plans, cycle plans, and staff trainings, ensuring alignment with program needs and high-quality, youth-centered experiences.

Qualifications

• AA Degree in a STEM field or six child development units is preferred.
• Enthusiastic to work well with youth development staff and/or youth.
• Good oral and written communication.
• Ability to travel to multiple regions including San Fernando Valley, South Los Angeles, West Los Angeles, San Gabriel Valley, Southeast LA and Downtown areas.
• Computer literacy and willingness to learn.
• Stable Internet Access.
• Valid LIVE Scan.

Responsibilities

• Research best practices in youth development to inform content development.
• Maintain curriculum library updates and ensure cycle plans communications.
• Identify and coordinate potential partners to provide curriculum for staff.
• Implement STEM content trainings for Woodcraft Rangers club leaders.
• Develop program support tools and resources as needed.
• Work with Associate Director of Learning to set targets, manage projects, and evaluate progress.
• Work with Learning Team to align best practices and guide collective efforts.
• Develop new activities and adapt existing curriculum to specialty programs.
• Help create assessment tools to monitor activity implementation.
• Consult with specialty enrichment Club Leaders to develop new curriculum.
• Develop curriculum for assigned grade levels and subjects, adhering to standards.
• Participate in staff development training ~40 hours/year.
• Ensure program quality per funding, partner and WR guidelines.
