Job summary

Qualifications

• Currently employed by Newport Public Schools as a teacher.
• SMILE Training completed.

Responsibilities

• Plan and direct weekly 1.5–2 hour integrated math–science computer activities for URI/SMILE group.
• Recruit students from appropriate grades; maintain ~20 members.
• Plan and conduct field trips that complement URI/SMILE projects.
• Prepare students for URI/SMILE special events.
• Keep weekly logs: attendance, activity description, and forms submitted online.
• Maintain records of grades, expenditures, and community contacts.
• Attend URI and local Teachers’ Workshops; if missed, stipends may be adjusted.
• Maintain SMILE equipment and materials; share expertise with colleagues.
• Encourage parental participation and coordinate transportation to meetings and trips.
• Submit a yearly article for the SMILE Newsletter.
