The Medical University of South Carolina seeks a laboratory technician to join a basic biomedical science laboratory under PI supervision, focusing on human pluripotent stem cells, organoids, histology, and immunohistochemistry, with imaging and biochemical assays.

Under supervision, you will assist in generating and characterizing models of human colonic diseases, help select reagents, and set up the lab. A bachelor’s degree in life sciences and hands-on lab skills are required.

Competenze

• A bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology or other life science is preferred.
• Strong organizational, record keeping, and interpersonal communication skills required.
• Preference for experience with PCR, recombinant DNA, western blotting, cell culture, histology and immunostaining, and microscopy.

• Designing and planning routine experiments, including optimization of daily experimental protocols, selection and ordering reagents and lab supplies.
• Maintaining an accurate and timely experimental records.
• Percent of Total Time: 30 Share responsibility for maintenance of human pluripotent stem cells and human intestinal and colonic organoids including, passaging, differentiation and maintenance of 3d cultures.
• Percent of Total Time: 30 Histology and immunohistochemistry, including tissue collection, processing and embedding, sectioning, staining, and imaging.
• Percent of Total Time: 20 Basic molecular biology and biochemistry experiments: DNA isolation, genotyping, real-time PCR, western blotting.
• Percent of Total Time: 15 Participate in animal protocol drafting, and scientific manuscript preparation.
