Job summary

Stanford University’s Ross Laboratory invites applications for a Basic Life Research Scientist. You will lead projects studying normal and malignant stem cells, design experiments, analyze data, and mentor students and postdocs in a collaborative, inclusive lab environment.

This 1-year fixed-term position offers the opportunity to work closely with the PI and a multidisciplinary team, with responsibilities spanning grant writing, budget oversight, and training of junior researchers.

Qualifications

Ph.D. in stem cell biology, cancer biology, immunology, or related field.
Post-doctoral experience in stem cell biology, cancer biology, immunology, or related field.
Extensive experience with molecular biology, mouse handling and procedures, flow-cytometry analysis and cell sorting, mammalian cell culture, RNA-sequencing, and microscopy.
Experience in genetic manipulation of cells (e.g., CRISPR) is desired. Additional experience in computational biology is welcome.
Ability to independently design and troubleshoot experiments.
Excellent communication and organization skills.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Adobe Illustrator, GraphPad Prism, R, and other.

Responsibilities

Lead scientific projects, including design and execution of experiments, and data analysis.
Mentor junior lab members and participate in training of students and post-doctoral fellows.
Contribute to grant applications and progress reports.
Oversee efficient lab operations, budget, and equipment care, ensuring regulatory compliance.
