Job summary

Salk Institute for Biological Studies is seeking a Research Assistant I to support NIH-funded work on iPSC differentiation and beta cell transplantation for diabetes therapies. You will maintain iPSC cultures, assist with multistage differentiation, and help with transplantation studies in mice under PI guidance.

The role emphasizes meticulous record-keeping, aseptic technique, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to advance stem cell biology and related assays. Training provided.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences or related field; 2+ years in a scientific role if degree is not in life sciences.
• Experience with cell culture, aseptic technique, and quality control.
• Familiarity with molecular biology techniques and routine lab equipment.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and expand human iPSC lines using sterile technique.
• Support differentiation of iPSCs into pancreatic progenitors and beta-like cells.
• Monitor culture quality and document experimental results accurately.
• Assist with genetic engineering and characterization of iPSC lines.
• Perform DNA/RNA/protein assays and basic molecular analyses.
• Support animal studies including transplantation and sample collection.
