Job summary

The University of California, San Diego Medical Centers is inviting applications for a research role within the Department of Pediatrics. The incumbent will independently perform and oversee pre-clinical experiments and manage clinical samples designed for the collection of safety and efficacy data of a gene therapy product.

The candidate will work with various cell types, human blood and mouse models, while performing general lab duties, and acting as the EH&S biosafety contact.

Qualifications

• Theoretical knowledge in cellular and molecular biology typically with a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• Sterile techniques and mammalian cell culture practices required.
• Experience performing repetitive specialized lab procedures per established protocols.
• Ability to operate and repair lab equipment.
• Effective written and verbal communication with staff, researchers, and supervisors.
• Strong organization to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
• Proficiency in recording data and preparing reports.
• Ability to learn new lab procedures and adapt to different experiments.
• Experience with mouse handling, blood sampling, tissue collection, and survival surgery.
• Knowledge of Safety and Biohazardous Material Guidelines.
