Job summary

Eastern Iowa Community Colleges (EICC) is seeking dedicated instructors to lead 2027 summer camps for students in grades 4-9. Courses run June–July, Monday–Thursday, about 30 hours/week, with hands-on STEM activities highlighting manufacturing processes and technologies.

Responsibilities include designing engaging lessons, aligning with standards, guiding hands‑on projects, maintaining a positive learning environment, and coordinating with camp staff.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in the course specified field/topic.
• Prior experience working with youth.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to engage and motivate students.
• Passion for teaching and sharing knowledge in STEM fields.

Responsibilities

• Assist in designing and developing engaging lesson plans and activities for course specific topics.
• Ensure the curriculum is age‑appropriate and aligns with educational standards.
• Teach students through hands‑on projects.
• Provide clear instructions and demonstrations to help students understand complex concepts.
• Adapt teaching methods to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
• Maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment.
• Manage classroom behavior and ensure the safety of all students during activities.
• Monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback.
• Assess student projects and ensure they meet learning objectives.
• Work with other instructors and camp staff to coordinate activities and share resources.
• Prepare materials and equipment needed for each class.
• Set up and clean up classroom spaces before and after sessions.
• Commit to providing quality service that meets or exceeds the expectations of students and internal/external stakeholders.
