STEMagine Learning Center in Glenview, IL seeks a Seasonal STEM Camp Instructor to lead hands-on activities for children 6+. This part-time, on-call role is ideal for teachers, tutors, or STEM students who enjoy creative, technology-rich environments.

You will follow lesson plans, supervise campers, ensure safety, and help prepare materials for half-day or full-day camps, with compensation per session and opportunities during school breaks and holidays.

Qualifications

  • Experience teaching, tutoring, coaching, mentoring, or supervising children ages 6 and older.
  • Degree, coursework, or professional experience in education, engineering, computer science, technology, mathematics, science, or a related field.
  • Experience with robotics, coding, LEGO Education, makerspace activities, 3D printing, or project-based learning.

Responsibilities

  • Lead age-appropriate STEM activities in areas such as LEGO robotics, coding, engineering, 3D design and printing, science, and creative problem-solving.
  • Follow STEMagine lesson plans and help prepare activity materials.
  • Explain concepts clearly and support children with different abilities and experience levels.
  • Supervise campers and maintain a safe, welcoming, and well-organized learning environment.
  • Encourage teamwork, curiosity, creativity, and respectful behavior.
  • Assist with camper arrival, dismissal, breaks, lunch, and transitions between activities.
  • Communicate professionally with STEMagine staff, children, and families.
  • Help organize and clean the classroom and equipment at the end of each camp day.

Position Type: Part-time, seasonal, and on-call

STEMagine Learning Center is seeking an enthusiastic and dependable Seasonal STEM Camp Instructor to lead and support engaging, hands-on learning experiences for children ages 6 and older.

This position is available during school days off, winter and holiday breaks, spring break, and future summer camps. It is ideal for a teacher, substitute teacher, education professional, or STEM student who enjoys working with children in a creative and technology-rich environment.

Responsibilities
  • Lead age-appropriate STEM activities in areas such as LEGO robotics, coding, engineering, 3D design and printing, science, and creative problem-solving.
  • Follow STEMagine lesson plans and help prepare activity materials.

Qualifications

Preferred candidates will have one or more of the following:

  • Experience teaching, tutoring, coaching, mentoring, or supervising children ages 6 and older.
  • A degree, coursework, or professional experience in education, engineering, computer science, technology, mathematics, science, or a related field.
  • Experience with robotics, coding, LEGO Education, makerspace activities, 3D printing, or project-based learning.
  • Current or previous experience as a classroom teacher, substitute teacher, teaching assistant, camp instructor, or after-school instructor.
Required Skills
  • Enthusiasm for working with children and introducing them to STEM.
  • Strong communication and classroom-management skills.
  • Reliability, patience, flexibility, and a positive attitude.
  • Ability to learn new technologies and follow activity plans.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Availability during at least some school holidays and school days off.
  • Successful completion of a background check before employment.

CPR and First Aid certification are preferred but not required at the time of application.

Compensation
  • Half-day camp: $100 for approximately 3-3.5 hours
  • Full-day camp: $180 for approximately 6 hours

Compensation reflects the specialized instructional nature of the position and is competitive with local substitute-teaching and STEM camp opportunities.
