Job summary

New York Edge is seeking an Extended Day STEM Activity Instructor to lead after-school programming for children and teens in New York City public schools. The role involves designing and delivering STEM activities, building student relationships, and supporting curriculum implementation.

This position is part-time, in-person, with hours typically 2:00 pm–6:00 pm, Monday through Friday, subject to site needs. Prior STEM teaching experience is preferred and safety procedures will be taught.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• College credits in STEM, education, or related fields preferred.
• Experience teaching youth and working with children encouraged.
• In-person role in New York City public school settings.

Responsibilities

• Build strong relationships with and among students.
• Teach or co-lead daily activities.
• Learn and facilitate STEM curriculum, including Math, Robotics, Science, Coding, Technology and/or Engineering.
• Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects and communicate those objectives to students.
• Participate in ongoing professional development activities.
• Prepare materials for daily activities.
• Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' needs and interests.
• Support the coordination of program events.
• Input data and prepare reports.
• Administer pre and post-assessments and evaluations for student activities.
