About the Role
Weitsman Recycling seeks a results-driven Steel Shop Service Center Manager to lead operations at our steel service center. This position will be responsible for overseeing daily center operations, managing sales and distribution functions, and ensuring exceptional customer service and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in steel distribution, logistics, and team leadership, with a proven ability to build high-performance operations from inception.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the Steel Shop Service Center operation in Rochester, NY
• Oversee daily facility operations, including order fulfillment, logistics, safety, inventory, and workflow coordination
• Build and manage a high-performing team of operations, sales, and support staff
• Develop and maintain relationships with commercial, industrial, and retail customers
• Monitor inventory levels, procurement needs, and material flow in coordination with upstream supply
• Implement safety protocols and ensure full regulatory compliance
• Collaborate with senior leadership on performance goals, budgeting, and strategic direction
• Identify operational inefficiencies and execute process improvements

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations, or related field preferred
• Minimum 5-7 years of management experience in a steel service center or industrial distribution environment
• Demonstrated experience in team leadership, logistics, and operations oversight
• Strong customer service orientation with a track record of driving sales and client satisfaction
• Working knowledge of steel materials, cutting, fabrication, and handling equipment a plus
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and operational management systems
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills
• Ability to thrive in a start-up environment and lead through change
