Job summary

gpac has partnered with a reputable steel fabrication and erection firm seeking a Steel Project Manager to oversee structural and miscellaneous steel projects from contract award through final installation.

You will coordinate with clients, engineers, detailers, fabrication teams, and field crews to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery while reviewing drawings and specifications for scope alignment.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience managing steel fabrication/erection projects.
  • Strong understanding of structural steel and/or miscellaneous metals.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural drawings.
  • Proficiency with Tekla, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Fabtrol (or similar).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word).
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all phases of structural and miscellaneous steel projects (stairs, railings, catwalks, platforms, etc.).
  • Serve as primary contact between clients, engineers, detailers, fabrication teams, and field crews.
  • Oversee timelines, budgets, material procurement, and subcontractor coordination.
  • Review drawings and specs to ensure alignment with scope and deliverables.
  • Track progress, resolve issues, and ensure on-time, on-budget delivery.
  • Coordinate with estimating and detailing teams for change orders and revisions.
  • Maintain strong communication with clients and internal teams throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and contractual requirements.

About The Opportunity

GPAC has partnered with a reputable and fast-growing steel fabrication and erection company that delivers high-quality structural and miscellaneous metal projects across commercial and industrial markets. Our client is seeking a knowledgeable and proactive Steel Project Manager to oversee projects from contract award through final installation.

This is a direct-hire position with a stable and well-respected company offering long-term career potential and a strong pipeline of upcoming work.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage all phases of structural and miscellaneous steel projects, including stairs, railings, catwalks, platforms, etc.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact between clients, engineers, detailers, fabrication teams, and field crews.

  • Proficient in project management and construction software, including Tekla, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Fabtrol (or similar).
  • Skilled in using Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word).
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field (preferred but not required).
  • Previous hands‑on experience in steel fabrication or erection is highly valued.
  • Familiarity with field operations, fabrication workflows, and change order processes.
