Job summary

GPAC is recruiting a Steel Estimator for a well-established steel fabrication and erection company. You will prepare detailed cost estimates for structural steel and miscellaneous metals, analyze drawings, and generate bid packages to support pre-construction efforts.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years of estimating experience in steel, strong drawing interpretation skills, and proficiency with Tekla, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, or Fabtrol, along with MS Office.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years estimating experience in steel fabrication and/or erection.
• Strong knowledge of structural steel and/or miscellaneous metals.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting architectural and structural drawings.
• Comfortable using estimating software and MS Office tools.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates for structural steel and miscellaneous metals (e.g., stairs, railings, catwalks).
• Analyze construction drawings, specifications, and bid documents.
• Perform material takeoffs and generate accurate quantity estimates.
• Solicit vendor and subcontractor pricing for materials and services.
• Work closely with project managers, engineers, and fabrication teams.
• Utilize estimating software to generate proposals and bid packages.
• Participate in bid reviews and value-engineering discussions.
• Track project changes and adjust estimates accordingly.

About The Opportunity

GPAC is actively recruiting on behalf of a well-established steel fabrication and erection company known for delivering high-quality structural and miscellaneous metalwork. We are seeking an experienced Steel Estimator to support pre-construction efforts by preparing accurate and competitive bids for structural steel and miscellaneous metals projects.

This is a full-time, direct-hire position offering strong growth potential and the opportunity to work with a collaborative, detail-oriented team.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates for structural steel and miscellaneous metals (e.g., stairs, railings, catwalks).
• Analyze construction drawings, specifications, and bid documents.
• Perform material takeoffs and generate accurate quantity estimates.
• Solicit vendor and subcontractor pricing for materials and services.

• Utilize industry-standard estimating software to generate proposals and bid packages.

• Field experience in steel erection or fabrication is a strong plus.
• Familiarity with project management workflows and fabrication processes.
