Job summary

U. S. Steel is seeking a Mill Operations Utility Technician to support production on rotating 8-hour shifts. You will use hand and power tools, operate basic equipment, and assist with inspections and maintenance in a challenging, hot and noisy environment near molten metal.

Ideal candidates will have a High School Diploma or GED, be reliable, punctual, and able to lift >25 lbs. Overtime may be required to meet production needs.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Willingness to work rotating 8-hour shifts, including weekends/holidays.
• Adherence to safety procedures and PPE at all times.
• Reliable, punctual attendance and self-direction.
• Must pass a pre-employment digital assessment.

Responsibilities

• General utility work supporting multiple production and service units.
• Use of basic hand and power tools, pneumatic equipment, gauges, oxygen lances, and cutting torches.
• Handling, transporting, and processing materials and finished product.
• Work around hot, heavy, or sharp materials and occasional hazardous chemicals.
• Manual tasks, including safely lifting more than 25 lbs.
• Assisting with equipment inspections and maintenance activities.
• Performing in a heavy industrial environment; potential work near molten metal.
