Job summary

Universal Stainless in North Jackson, OH, is seeking a Steel Mill Forge Operator (Glama Driver / Operator) to operate and monitor four VAR furnaces, load/unload with a remote crane, and document production data. The role demands 12-hour shifts (4x12) including day and night, with heavy industrial experience and overhead crane/forklift proficiency.

Qualified applicants will have at least 1 year of heavy industrial experience and forklift/overhead crane experience; CDL is a plus.

Qualifications

• Heavy Industrial experience of at least 1 year.
• Overhead crane and forklift operation required.
• CDL experience is a big plus.
• 12 hour shifts and 4x12 schedule.
• Day and night shifts with weekend availability.
• Prior steel mill or industrial furnace experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operates and monitors 4 VAR furnaces.
• Safely loads furnace using remote overhead crane.
• Maintains accurate records of furnace activity and production data.
• Identifies anomalies in furnace performance and notifies Technology/Maintenance/Supervision.
• Welding as needed.
• All other duties as required.

Wage: $21.75 to $22.75 per hour

Rotating shifts

12 hour shifts

Prior steel mill or industrial furnace experience preferred.

Heavy Equipment Operation / CDL experience a big plus!

GLAMA Operator:

Operates and monitors 4 VAR furnaces.

Safely loads furnace using remote overhead crane, documenting bar identification and all required information.

Maintains accurate record keeping of all furnace activity and communicates information to co-workers.

Monitors chart recorders for cycle adherence to recipe. Ability to identify anomalies in the furnace performance and contacts/communicates to Technology, Maintenance, and Supervision

Safely unloads bars from furnace at end of cycle and cools bars in manner directed by recipe using remote overhead crane.

Documents and adheres to designated cycle times. Processes material in accordance with recipe

Accurately records production data manually and in computerized production recording system. Understands data system and is capable of identifying/rectifying erroneous or inconsistent entries/results.

Tools/equipment used: including but not limited to, IR Thermometer, calipers, measuring stick, tape measure, hot chalk, paint markers, go/no-go tools, TC load material and tools, label printers, stacker crane, forklift, furnace controllers.

Welding as needed.

All other duties as required.
