Job summary

Reliance, Inc. is seeking a Machine Operator to support metal fabrication operations. The role involves setting up, operating, and troubleshooting equipment such as press brakes, plate burning machines, conveyors, and overhead cranes to produce steel parts according to work orders.

You will read specifications, perform quality inspections, maintain safety, and document production data. The shift is nights 5:00 PM–5:00 AM with overtime opportunities and benefits.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of experience operating manufacturing or metal processing equipment preferred.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Experience in a steel service center or fabrication environment preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret work orders, instructions, and specifications.
• Ability to use basic math and measurement skills accurately.
• Experience using measuring tools (tape measure, micrometers).
• Ability to operate overhead crane (preferred).
• Experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with changing priorities.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• High level of dependability and ability to work well in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Set up, operate, and troubleshoot assigned machinery including press brakes and plate burning machines.
• Process steel products according to work orders, ensuring correct size and tolerance.
• Perform first-piece and in-process inspections to meet quality standards.
• Monitor machine performance and adjust settings to maintain production efficiency.
• Record and report production data and quality issues; elevate concerns to supervisor.
• Read and follow written work instructions, work orders, and specifications.
• Operate remote-controlled overhead cranes to position steel materials as needed.
• Load, unload, move, and stage materials to appropriate work areas.
• Maintain clean, safe, and organized production areas.
• Complete daily equipment inspections and report maintenance or safety concerns.
