Job summary

GPAC is recruiting a Steel Estimator for a well-established steel fabrication and erection company in California. The role focuses on pre-construction bids for structural steel and miscellaneous metals, requiring accurate estimates and strong collaboration with project teams.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years of estimating experience in steel, solid drawing-reading skills, and proficiency with Tekla, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Fabtrol, and estimating software.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of estimating experience in steel fabrication/erection.
• Strong knowledge of structural steel and miscellaneous metals.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural/structural drawings.
• Familiarity with Tekla, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Fabtrol or similar tools.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word).

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates for structural steel and miscellaneous metals.
• Analyze construction drawings, specifications, and bid documents.
• Perform material takeoffs and generate quantity estimates.
• Solicit vendor and subcontractor pricing for materials and services.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and fabrication teams.
• Use estimating software to generate proposals and bid packages.
• Participate in bid reviews and value-engineering discussions.
• Track project changes and adjust estimates accordingly.
