Job summary

Jobot is seeking a highly motivated Steel Estimator to join their growing team, focusing on miscellaneous steel projects within the Mid-Atlantic market. The role requires analyzing blueprints, preparing time and cost estimates, and collaborating with clients and vendors to ensure competitive bids.

The successful candidate will have at least 2 years of estimating experience in steel and miscellaneous metals, strong cost-control skills, and proficiency with estimating software.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Steel Estimator or in a similar role.
• Extensive knowledge of steel and miscellaneous metals.
• Proficient in blueprint reading and project estimation.
• Ability to determine material and labor costs accurately.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Keen eye for detail and a results-driven approach.
• Proficient in using computer software for developing estimates.
• Degree in a relevant field preferred.
• Professional body certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Analyzing blueprints and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.
• Assessing cost effectiveness of products, projects or services, tracking actual costs relative to bids as the project develops.
• Consulting with clients, vendors, personnel in other departments or construction foremen to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
• Conducting special studies to develop and establish standard hour and related cost data or to effect cost reduction.
• Reviewing material and labor requirements to decide whether it is more cost-effective to produce or purchase components.
• Preparing estimates for use in selecting vendors or subcontractors.
• Accurately inputting costs for proposals and performing an accurate and detailed estimate from drawings for small to large miscellaneous metal projects.
