Job summary

Tennessee Tech is seeking a Steam Plant Supervisor to oversee the steam plant operations and lead a team responsible for boilers fired by natural gas or fuel oil. You will plan and supervise maintenance, ensure regulatory compliance, and coordinate with inspectors to maintain safe, efficient plant performance.

The role requires strong leadership, budgeting, and scheduling skills, with on-call duties and a focus on preventing downtime during shutdowns.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with seven years of related professional experience, or an associate's degree with five years of related professional experience.
• Willing to learn basic Microsoft Office programs such as Word and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Supervises operation of high-pressure boilers fired by natural gas or fuel oil and trains, schedules, assigns, inspects, and evaluates staff.
• Develops and tests plans for natural gas curtailment when fuel changes to diesel and monitors/adjusts boiler controls for gas and oil-fired equipment.
• Plans, directs, and executes maintenance and repair activities of boilers and related equipment and orders materials as needed.
• Maintains compliance with Title V permitting and EPA boiler inspector requirements; coordinates with inspectors and regulatory personnel.
• Works on-call to support plant operations during unforeseen scheduling conflicts or absences; adheres to TTU rules and regulations.
