Job summary

BC Energy operates the steam plant at Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Worcester, MA. We are seeking personnel with at least a 2nd class Fireman license to help run the steam plant under the Chief Engineer on a rotating schedule during the heating season (October to May).

Operators will independently operate three water-tube boilers (2x23k lbs/hr, 1x12k lbs/hr) and perform minor maintenance in the off-season; pay is $35-$45 per hour, with benefits and two weeks PTO accrued.

Qualifications

• 2nd class Fireman license required.
• Experience operating water-tube boilers preferred.
• Ability to operate steam plant equipment and related systems.

Responsibilities

• Operate three water-tube boilers (2x23k lbs/hr, 1x12k lbs/hr) and supporting systems.
• Work under the supervision of the Chief (2nd Class Engineer) on a rotating schedule during heating season (Oct–May).
• Perform minor maintenance during off-season and oversee contractor work.
