We are seeking personnel with (at least) a 2nd class Fireman license to help run the steam plant at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. Operators at the steam plant work under the supervision of the Chief (2nd Class Engineer) on a rotating DuPont schedule during the heating season (October to May). Operators shall be willing and able to independentlyoperate the three water tube boilers (2x 23k lbs/hr, 1x 12k lbs/hr) including the supporting tanks, pumps, valves, etc. During the off-season (non-heating season), operators work Monday through Friday, approximately 8AM-4PM, performing minor maintenance on the plant, overseeing contractor work, etc. Pay rate is $35 to $45 per hour, experience dependent. Benefits and insurance with employee contributions are offered and two weeks of PTO is accured.
