Job summary

Six Flags Buena Park is seeking a Train Engineer to support the safe operation and maintenance of steam locomotives and related railroad equipment. The role includes conducting routine track work and repairs to ensure smooth operations and guest safety.

You will perform daily inspections, assist mechanics with maintenance, and ensure compliance with safety guidelines while providing excellent guest service and documentation of activities.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• 2–4 years of experience in mechanical maintenance.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Knowledge of gear ratios, torque, and use of common hand tools.
• Ability to work safely at heights up to 300 feet.
• Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to pass a background check as required.

Responsibilities

• Safely assist guest with boarding, riding, and disembarking the locomotive and passenger cars.
• Learn and enforce train rider policies and procedures.
• Perform daily, weekly, monthly, and annual inspections of rolling stock and tracks; document results.
• Lubricate and perform routine maintenance on rolling stock and tracks; document results.
• Stabilize equipment during emergencies to ensure guest and employee safety.
• Assist mechanics with repairs and preventative maintenance as needed.
• Provide guest service per Six Flags standards, including directions and inquiries.
• Maintain clean, safe work areas and report unsafe conditions.
