Job summary

Academy is seeking a STEAM Instructor to design lesson plans aligning with state standards and common core. The role uses computers and online tools to engage students and adapt curricula with innovative strategies.

The instructor will guide students to apply knowledge to real world problems, collaborate with staff, and participate in professional development while maintaining records and ensuring data-driven instruction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Certification/Licensure in appropriate teaching area; NCLB Highly Qualified.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Proficient in computer applications.
• Knowledgeable in use of web resources, online tools, technology tools, etc.
• Effective organizational skills with the ability to perform multiple tasks.
• Satisfactory completion of local, state, and federal criminal history check and TB test.

Responsibilities

• Understands, accepts, and abides by the Academy’s philosophy and mission statement in all activities.
• Responsible for implementing instructional practices for STEAM related classes.
• Student-centric, holistic, and teach about how to learn as well as the subject area.
• Models tolerance, global awareness, reflective practice, and models behaviors we expect from students.
• Prepares instructional lesson plans as directed.
• Administers all standardized tests as directed.
• Keeps accurate records on each student (grade books, report cards, attendance, behavior).
• Maintains confidentiality concerning all student information and professional matters.
• Works with staff to improve student learning and achievement.
• Deploys sound classroom management techniques.
• Collaborates with colleagues to model connected educators and positive relationships.
• Attends and participates in school activities as directed by the Principal.
• Follows Academy policies and procedures.
• Participates in professional development workshops/programs.
• Maintains status of Highly Qualified Teacher per federal definition.
• Performs other duties as deemed appropriate by Principal and Management.
