Job summary

The Griffin Museum of Science and Industry is seeking an Associate, Education Programs to deliver engaging STEAM programming for youth and families, both off-site and within the Museum.

This part-time, onsite role is union-represented (AFSCME Council 31) and requires afternoon availability during the week and Saturday availability.

You will support all Education departments, track attendance, and ensure safe operation of supplies and equipment while collaborating with partners.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; 1–3 years’ experience facilitating education programs.
• Interest and experience in STEAM concepts for youth and families.
• Ability to follow written, oral, or diagram instructions; problem-solving in varied locations.
• Willingness to learn new programming/facilitation methods; may involve design software and machinery.
• Proficient with Windows, Google Docs, and basic file maintenance.
• Experience with open source software, 2D/3D design or technical illustration is a plus.
• Ability to engage diverse audiences and collaborate with others.
• Spanish language proficiency is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging and dynamic STEAM programming for youth, families, and educators.
• Focus on revenue-positive programs both off-site and within the Museum.
• Cross-train across Education programs and respond to external partner requests.
• Assist with daily operation of major Education programs and initiatives.
• Support Museum events and initiatives as needed (Special Events, Exhibits, etc.).
• Track attendance and collect quantitative data.
• Safely operate equipment and materials used in programming.
• Organize materials and spaces before, during, and after programs.
• Other duties as assigned.
