Job summary

Reading School District seeks a STEAM Teacher for Aquaponics Education to develop and deliver hands-on, standards-aligned learning experiences introducing students to aquaponics, sustainability, and STEAM concepts.

The role collaborates with the Curriculum Department to align the aquaponics program with Pennsylvania standards, delivers inquiry-based lessons in elementary and middle schools, and leads field trips at the Aquaponics Learning Center.

Qualifications

• Strong collaboration, communication, organization, and instructional design skills.
• Ability to work effectively with students and educators across multiple grade levels.
• Experience with project-based learning, engineering design, or interdisciplinary instruction preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate to develop and implement a K-12 aquaponics curriculum aligned to standards.
• Connect aquaponics experiences to classroom curriculum and standards.
• Deliver inquiry-based STEAM lessons in elementary and middle schools using aquaponics.
• Design hands-on field trips at the Aquaponics Learning Center.
• Differentiate lessons for diverse student populations.
• Develop age-appropriate learning experiences and assess student learning.
• Coordinate with aquaponics staff to ensure safe, functional, and meaningful learning environments.
• Maintain materials, equipment use, and request repairs when needed.
• Establish and maintain student behavior standards during classes, labs, and trips.
• Promote awareness of aquaponics and related college and career opportunities District-wide.
• Maintain communication with administration, teachers, families, and partners.
