Job description

Reporting to the Executive Housekeeper, the Status Board Operator is primarily responsible for the receipt, logging and handling of guest requests for housekeeping service and the daily preparation of room assignments for Guest Room Attendants.

Essential Job Functions
  • Responsible to receive, log and handle guest and other telephone calls received to housekeeping.
  • Responsible for the daily preparation of the daily room assignments for GRAs and distribute keys, radio and pagers as appropriate.
  • Responsible for checking daily arrivals, departures and VIP reports.
  • Liaise with the Rooms Controller on special requests and forward to Supervisors as appropriate.
  • Responsible for constantly checking the computer system throughout the shift for an update of check‑out rooms.
  • Ensure a stream of “Vacant-Inspected” rooms is returned to the Front Desk and that their requests are met.
  • Spot check uniform standards and appearance of all Housekeeping staff reporting to duty.
  • Check occupancy levels daily to ensure full coverage and inform Housekeeping Management of any shortages and overages.
  • Log all lost property as per Lost & Found procedures.
  • Log all staff tardiness, sickness and absenteeism and inform the Housekeeping Coordinator and management.
  • Verify that all staff accurately follow key, radio and pager procedures and that all records are correct and up to date.
  • Liaise with Maintenance and the Rooms Controller regarding maintenance rooms, informing Housekeeping Supervisors of scheduled work and progress.
  • Handle maintenance calls from all departments and guests, ensuring they are logged and entered in the Hotsos system.
  • Continuously update Housekeeping Management on daily operations.
  • Track all laundry, dry‑cleaning and rollaway rentals.
  • Handle all requests and complaints from internal and external guests with immediate action and follow‑up.
  • Assist Housekeeping Management in administrative work as directed.
  • Take ownership of situations or tasks by fully understanding the issue, asking for help when needed, communicating progress, and delivering results effectively and efficiently.
  • Follow the lead of the Assistant Executive Housekeeper and accept any additional tasks and assignments deemed necessary.
Qualifications
  • Minimum one‑year customer service experience preferred with the ability to provide courteous, friendly and efficient service to all guests every time.
  • Ability to create an efficient, organized tracking system for guest calls, lost and found items, and the relevant software systems for maintenance reporting.
  • Excellent communication skills, a positive attitude, attention to detail, and the ability to complete guest and staff requests promptly.
  • Professional, clear and concise communication.
  • Proficiency in using all departmental forms, ensuring they are legible and understandable.
  • Knowledge of Housekeeping Operations is required.
  • Computer and typing skills are essential.
  • Minimum one year experience with Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Familiarity with the AS400 LMS System.
  • Strong understanding and working knowledge of chemicals and cleaning supplies, techniques and equipment, and knowledge of MSDS and OSHA guidelines.
  • English speaking, reading and writing fluency.
  • Calm handling of all situations.
  • Motivated, reliable, flexible and able to multi‑task in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Sense of urgency in receiving and reacting to all guest requests and complaints.
  • Availability to work any day of the week and any shift when required.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with co‑workers and as part of a team.
  • Adherence to attendance guidelines and all departmental and company policies.
  • Wear issued uniform while on the clock.
  • Present a contemporary professional image in compliance with appearance guidelines as set in the Team Member Handbook policies and procedures.
  • Bilingual Spanish skills helpful.
Work Environment and ADA Requirements
  • Must be able to sit for at least four hours at a time.
  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Must be able to lift up to ten pounds.
  • Must be able to concentrate for long periods and remember specific details.
  • Must be able to respond calmly in crisis and stressful situations and when handling guest conflicts.
  • Must be able to operate a computer, photocopy machine, fax machine and 10‑key adding machine.
