Job summary

The University of Michigan is seeking a statistician to support research on substance use disorders within the Psychiatry Department. You will clean, manage, analyze, and interpret longitudinal and cross-sectional data, draft analysis plans, and produce reports and visuals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a recognized field of science or learning directly related to duties
  • 1-3 years professional experience
  • Candidates must be detailed oriented, able to work in a cooperative team, and have excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Adept at multi-tasking, able to work independently, maintain orderly records and seek guidance as needed
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, critical thinking, and attentiveness to detail are required

Responsibilities

  • Data cleaning for cross-sectional, longitudinal, and linked datasets; occasional use of administrative data from EHRs and paradata from web-based or mobile programs
  • Linkage of data across platforms and programs to ensure accurate reporting (e.g., EnrollNow/Ripple, Excel, SAS/SPSS/R, Qualtrics)
  • Maintaining logs of data cleaning activities, including reproducible code
  • Ongoing quality assurance monitoring for data integrity
  • Data analysis and interpretation of analyses using various datasets, including clinical trial results
  • Assisting with data reporting to external sources (e.g., data repositories, funders, ClinicalTrials.gov) and preparation for dissemination products; possible co-authorship
  • Maintaining appropriate human subjects research certifications
