The American Heart Association offers an excellent opportunity for a Statistical Analyst based at our National Center (remote work acceptable).

We are looking for a data science analyst/biostatistician to utilize data science tools and methodologies to analyze healthcare data for scientific research in precision medicine. You will work collaboratively with scientists, volunteers, and program managers to solve medical research challenges using advanced tools and methods.

Responsibilities

  1. Conduct statistical analysis using clinical registry and EHR data to address cardiovascular research questions.
  2. Collaborate with senior analysts, clinicians, and research teams to refine questions and develop analysis plans.
  3. Clean, preprocess, and harmonize clinical data for analysis.
  4. Apply and develop traditional and advanced analytical methods, including machine learning and AI techniques.
  5. Prepare reports, manuscripts, and visualizations for dissemination.
  6. Contribute to peer-reviewed publications and scientific presentations.
  7. Serve as a technical expert and liaison to stakeholders and external peers.
  8. Participate in conferences and lead consultative sessions with volunteers and experts.
  9. Contribute to communication strategies, including networks, publications, and workshops.

Qualifications

  • Master’s or PhD in data science, biostatistics, biomedical informatics, or related fields (preferred).
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Proficiency in R or Python for statistical analysis.
  • Experience preprocessing and modeling clinical data, especially from EHRs or registries.
  • Experience with statistical modeling and machine learning.
  • At least 2 years analyzing real-world patient data.
  • Experience with Statistical Analysis Plans.
  • Hands-on with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Strong skills managing large clinical datasets.
  • Excellent communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Effective organizational and time management skills.

Preferred Experience:

  • Python programming.
  • Cardiovascular Data Analysis.
  • Experience in healthcare or research environments.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary range: $75,000 - $85,000, commensurate with experience. Geographic adjustments may apply. Additional benefits include health insurance, retirement plans, professional development, work-life balance programs, tuition assistance, and more.
