RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a Stationary Engineer for Jersey City Medical Center. You will operate, maintain, and repair boilers and associated equipment to support daily healthcare operations.

The role requires hands-on mechanical maintenance, strong safety practices, and the ability to troubleshoot industrial systems to keep critical hospital infrastructure running reliably.

Qualifikationen

• High school diploma or equivalent; on-the-job or formal training comparable to a related accredited vocational program.
• At least three years of direct work experience with boilers and generating equipment.
• Valid State of New Jersey Stationary Engineer Black Seal license required.

Aufgaben

• Operate, inspect, and maintain gas- and oil-fired boilers, chillers, heaters, and powerhouse equipment.
• Monitor feed-water levels and fuel-to-air ratios for proper combustion and efficiency.
• Test boiler feed water and maintain water treatment programs.
• Clean fuel oil burners and perform preventive maintenance on boiler room machinery.
• Record steam pressure, water levels, fuel oil pressure, and temperatures in logbooks.
• Perform hands-on mechanical maintenance and pipe-fitting work.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized powerhouse environment.
• Support operational needs including snow removal when required.

As a Stationary Engineer, a Typical Day Might Include

• Operating, inspecting, and maintaining gas- and oil-fired boilers, chillers, heaters, and associated powerhouse equipment.
• Monitoring boiler feed-water levels and fuel-to-air ratios to support proper combustion and efficient operation.
• Testing boiler feed water and maintaining water treatment programs for feed water and boiler water.
• Cleaning fuel oil burners and lubricating, adjusting, troubleshooting, and repairing plant equipment as needed.
• Performing preventive maintenance on boiler room machinery, incinerators and accessories, and laundry equipment.
• Monitoring building management, fire alarm, and medical gas systems.
• Recording steam pressure, water levels, fuel oil pressure, and stack temperatures in the appropriate logbooks.
• Performing hands‑on mechanical maintenance and pipe‑fitting work to help keep equipment functioning properly.
• Maintaining a clean, safe, and organized powerhouse environment.
• Supporting operational needs through additional assigned duties, including snow removal when conditions require it.

Please be advised that this a Full-Time, Night position with the scheduled hours Friday‑Tuesday, 10:30pm-6:30am.
