Join Cleveland Clinic Neurological Institute and become part of one of the world’s most respected healthcare organizations. We are expanding with a new, one-million-square-foot, 15‑floor, state‑of‑the‑art facility on Cleveland Clinic Main Campus designed to elevate care for complex neurological conditions — including spine injuries, epileptic seizures, movement disorders, multiple sclerosis and stroke.

This advanced building brings every stage of care under one roof, featuring dedicated spaces for outpatient services, surgery, stepdown, ICU and epilepsy monitoring, as well as additional operating rooms and expanded ambulatory, infusion, imaging, EMG, sleep and rehabilitation services. We are welcoming new caregivers to collaborate within our multidisciplinary teams and contribute to nationally recognized, innovative neurological care. Join us and be part of the next wave of transformative care at Cleveland Clinic.

As a Stationary Engineer, you’ll play a key role in keeping critical facility systems safe, reliable, and running smoothly. You’ll inspect, operate, and maintain high-pressure steam, HVAC, emergency power, and fire protection systems.

Your day-to-day work will include monitoring utility systems, maintaining boilers, tracking Central Utility Plant logs, identifying trends to prevent issues, and inspecting systems such as bulk oxygen tanks and chillers. You’ll also have opportunities to grow your skills and advance your career.

A caregiver in this position works varying shifts. Shifts will vary from 2nd and 3rd shift. Rotating days each week.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Monitor and maintain HVAC-related source and distribution equipment such as steam, chilled water, water chemistry, humidification, air handling, etc.
  • Monitor and respond to all fire protection systems.
  • Respond to all emergency calls.
  • Test and monitor emergency generators and transfer equipment.
  • Work at other Cleveland Clinic facilities as needed.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Current Third-Class Stationary Engineer License or higher from the State of Ohio, or an equivalent state recognized certification

  • Knowledge in one or more of the following areas: steam distribution systems, condensate systems, large chiller systems, water distribution systems, cooling towers and air handling systems
  • Must possess working knowledge of blueprints and electrical schematics
  • Military experience such as Machinists Mate (MM), Electric Power Production (3E0X2) or similar will be considered
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
  • 2 years of experience as a stationary engineer or industrial/utility power plant operator (time spent in a Stationary Engineer Apprenticeship Program may be applied toward this preferred experience)
  • Knowledge of fire protection equipment, building automation equipment, emergency generators, and HVAC equipment
Physical Requirements:
