Job summary

Arkansas Children's is seeking a Maintenance Technician to operate and maintain the Central Energy Plant machinery, ensuring a stable supply of utilities across all connected buildings while maximizing efficiency and emergency readiness. We have five openings across three shifts: First Shift 7:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., Second Shift 3:00 p.m.

– 11:00 p.m., Third Shift 11:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m. No formal education is required; a high school diploma or GED is recommended, and entry-level applicants are

Responsibilities

• Ensures all plant machinery and systems operate within design specs.
• Monitors building automation to ensure stable utilities.
• Operates HVAC, fire alarm, sprinkler, emergency power, medical gas systems.
• Diagnoses equipment problems with electrical/mechanical tools.
• Responds quickly to alarms to minimize damage and inconvenience.
• Maintains safety procedures and uses PPE.
• Performs preventive maintenance and basic inspections on machinery.

Most new hires start between $18.30-$22.80 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.

We currently have five (5) openings for this position across the following shifts

• Three (3) openings: First Shift — 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
• One (1) opening: Second Shift — 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.
• One (1) opening: Third Shift — 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.

Description

• Ensures all plant machinery and systems are operating within design specs and takes appropriate action if not. Continuously monitors local indicators and building automation system to ensure proper operation of machinery and a stable supply of utilities.
• Operates and maintains the HVAC, fire alarm, fire sprinkler, emergency electrical generation, medical gas, pneumatic and hydraulic systems. Diagnoses equipment problems with the use of electrical/mechanical troubleshooting tools.
• Responds quickly and effectively to alarms to minimize machinery damage and inconvenience to customers. Keeps accurate and detailed record of plant events.
• Maintains knowledge of and practices all plant safety procedures. Understands the purpose and use of personal protection equipment.
• Conducts basic inspections, repairs, and preventive maintenance on machinery in accordance with preventive maintenance schedules.
• Maintains and increases knowledge of machines/systems and their operating characteristics.
• Possesses knowledge of emergency response procedures for all plant equipment/utilities, and demonstrates the ability to carry out procedures. Maintains emergency power system readiness at all times.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
