Stationary Engineer, Cereal Plant

First-Class Stationary Engineer License from the City of Buffalo is required.

Compensation
  • $38.64 per hour
    • Additional $.34 per hour for hours worked on 2nd shift
    • Additional $.41 per hour for hours worked on 3rd shift
  • Overtime Pay
    • Time worked after 8 hours of work is paid at 1.5 times regular rate of pay
    • Time worked on Sunday is paid at 2 times (double pay) regular rate of pay

Responsibilities
  • Creating high quality foods that are eaten nationwide
  • Using technology in an industry-leading facility
  • Working with high-level operators on experienced teams to pass down knowledge and support learning

  • Install, maintain, repair power plant equipment (e.g., boilers, compressors, cogeneration, HVAC)
  • Identify and troubleshoot electrical/mechanical issues
  • Provide technical support for equipment troubleshooting and controls/equipment modifications
  • Perform uptime and downtime preventive maintenance per the master PM schedule
  • Perform corrective maintenance orders
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to increase platform performance
  • Attend meetings and trainings as required
  • Assist in training new employees
Schedule
  • 8-hour swing shift schedule (rotation weekly with designated days off)
    • 1st shift: 6 am – 2 pm
    • 2nd shift: 2 pm – 10 pm
    • 3rd shift: 10 pm – 6 am
  • Ability and willingness to work any shift, days, nights, weekends, overtime, and holidays
  • Plant operates 24/7

Requirements
  • Minimum high school education or GED
  • First-Class Stationary Engineer License from the City of Buffalo
  • Minimum 3 years experience in operation of a mid-size power plant
  • Minimum 4 years maintenance experience with basic knowledge in pipe fitting, electrical troubleshooting, and blueprint reading
  • Working knowledge of PLCs, HVAC systems, pneumatic and hydraulic systems
  • Experience in manufacturing/production environment preferred
Preferred Skills
  • NYS 7G pesticide application certification
  • EPA 608 universal refrigerant certification
  • Experience with industrial air compressors
  • NFPA 70e certification
  • Experience with cooling towers and water treatment
  • Experience with ammonia refrigeration systems
Physical Requirements
  • Must lift up to 50 lbs
  • Must perform physical tasks for extended periods: standing, walking, climbing, bending, pushing, pulling, twisting
  • Ability to climb or work at heights using stairs, ladders, personnel lifts, or platforms
  • Ability to wear protective clothing and equipment (safety shoes, masks, glasses, hearing protection, hard hat, etc.) when required
  • Adhere to grooming requirements necessary for a food manufacturing environment
  • Work in hot, cold, noisy, dusty, wet conditions
  • Work around industrial high-speed moving machinery
  • Work with allergens present in food environment
  • Maintain a tobacco-free environment
