Job summary

Licking Memorial Health Systems, a non‑profit healthcare organization in Ohio, is seeking a Plant Operations Maintenance Technician to inspect and maintain chillers, boilers, and HVAC systems. The role involves working during off-hours, performing preventive maintenance, and supporting grounds and custodial tasks as needed.

Responsibilities include logging inspections, chemical feed system upkeep, and assisting the engineer on duty with repairs.

Qualifications

• Understand, transmit and follow simple oral and/or written instructions and perform simple arithmetic calculations.
• Requires up to one year of on‑the‑job training.
• Concentrate on details such as measuring ingredients, testing, setting and monitoring gauges and maintaining logs.
• Material and equipment responsibility; potential cost in case of improper handling would be moderate.
• General knowledge of boilers, circulating pumps and valves.
• Must have valid Ohio driver's license.
• LMH accreditation may require annual education related to specialty certifications and standards.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a log at the beginning of the shift and perform equipment inspections during the shift.
• Maintain chemical feed systems and add chemicals as directed by the engineer on duty.
• Clean boiler, boiler room and equipment room and perform related custodial and cleaning duties as necessary.
• Perform general maintenance tasks throughout the Hospital, especially when the maintenance department is closed.
• Clean and/or replace filter material for air and water supply systems.
• Assist the grounds department in the care of parking lot, sidewalks and grounds, including snow removal in winter and shrub care in summer months.
• Assist the Engineer on duty with equipment repairs, preventive maintenance and related work.

Position Summary

Under general supervision, inspects and records readings of chillers, heating and cooling pumps, air handling units and pneumatic control panels. Performs maintenance repairs as needed, primarily during periods when the maintenance department is closed.

Requirements

• Requires up to one year of on‑the‑job training.
• Concentrate on details such as measuring ingredients, testing, setting and monitoring gauges and maintaining logs.
• Responsibility for materials and equipment. Probable cost in case of improper or careless handling of materials and/or equipment would be moderate.
• Have general knowledge of boilers, types of circulating pumps and valves, etc.
• Must have valid Ohio driver's license.
• LMH is accredited by DNV and TJC, and as such, may require specific annual education related to specialty certifications and standards.
